Wheat Harvest

Our new / used combine is getting broken in!  So far, so good.  We were all anxious about this particular piece of equipment because of how automated it is; it's basically like being inside of a transformer.  There is quite a learning curve, but I am so beyond proud of my husband for taking this leap.  I have no doubt that he will soon become accustomed to the combine's many subtleties and feel fully confident behind the wheel.  Such a pro.  Pretty easy on the eyes, too.

​My favorite part about the new combine is the buddy seat next to the driver's seat, which I have yet to fully take advantage of.  There just aren't enough hours during the day.  I feel like I am playing an endless game of catch-up during the summer months.  But now that I have experienced the full reward of a heavy summer hustle, taking the time to can and preserve the fruits of our labor now is such a priority.  This year I decided to really limit my social media time; it forces me to plan ahead and allows for more moments spent in our fields doing much more meaningful and productive work.

In case you missed us at market on Saturday, sweet corn is here!  Tomatoes are waiting in the wings and very, very soon we will be in overdrive digging potatoes for Ag Progress Days and The Grange.  Game on!
